Sterling Ridge Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine is pleased to announce the addition of Paul Chin, MD, PhD to the staff. Dr. Chin is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, complex shoulder reconstruction, and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, hip and knee.  He also has extensive training in cartilage restoration procedures, joint replacements for arthritis, and fracture care.   He is now practicing at SROSM’s newly opened Spring location on Kuykendahl near FM 2920.

Dr. Chin is passionate about providing excellent patient-centered care by providing patients with information necessary to make informed decisions about their care. Patients appreciate his friendly, open, and individualized approach. “Dr. Chin’s compassion and concern for each patient matches perfectly with our practice’s philosophy of making each patient feel like they are the only one in the office,” said Dr. William Hayes.

Dr. Chin is a native Texan and former collegiate tennis player.  He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Colorado State University in Pueblo where he was a Presidential Scholar and NCAA Academic All-American.  Dr. Chin went on to complete a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of Texas at Dallas where his published research resulted in multiple awards and a coveted National Institute of Health grant.  Dr. Chin continued his education by completing medical school and an orthopedic residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas.  During residency, he received multiple research grants, a distinguished teaching award, and had the privilege to provide care for the Dallas Stars Hockey team, Grand Prairie AirHogs professional baseball team, Southern Methodist University athletes, and multiple Dallas area high school football teams.

Dr. Chin was then selected for the prestigious San Diego Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Fellowship and trained with pioneers and innovators of knee, shoulder and hip arthroscopy, complex shoulder reconstruction, cartilage restoration, osteochondral allograft transplantation, and elbow reconstruction including the Tommy John procedure.  Dr. Chin had the distinction of treating athletes from the San Diego Padres, San Diego State University athletic teams, and other San Diego collegiate and high school athletes.
